Where to buy bacteriostatic water in Australia

If you have been searching for bac water in Australia and coming up empty at the usual places, this page explains why, what your real options are, and what to check before you hand over a card. Everything below applies to laboratory, analytical and industrial use only.

Where bac water generally cannot be bought

Retail pharmacies in Australia are set up for consumer health lines. They generally do not carry laboratory bacteriostatic water ranges, which is why searches for it at the large pharmacy chains and general retailers usually end without a product page. It is not a sign that the product is unavailable in Australia, only that it sits outside consumer retail ranging.

Overseas listings are easy to find, and they carry their own costs: two to four weeks in transit is common, glass travels badly over that distance, and anything shipped into Australia can be held or returned at the border. If a batch record or a replacement is ever needed, the supplier is in another time zone under another set of consumer laws.

Where bac water can be bought

The practical route is an Australian specialist supplier holding local stock: laboratory consumables suppliers, scientific distributors, and direct-to-bench sellers such as Pure Vial. Local stock means tracked domestic delivery in days rather than weeks, prices in AUD, GST handled, and Australian Consumer Law behind the purchase.

What to look for in a supplier

  • Batch testing. Every lot tested at production, with records retained so a vial can be traced to its run.
  • 0.22 µm filtration. The standard sterilising-grade membrane; ask if it is not stated.
  • Sealed vials. Gamma-irradiated septum seals with an intact tear-out crimp on arrival.
  • Australian stock. Dispatched domestically, not drop-shipped from overseas.
  • Tracked shipping. A tracking number and protective packaging for glass.
  • Clear labelling. Composition, volume, batch identifier, storage conditions and an intended-use statement on the label.

Price per mL, so you can compare honestly

Pack prices are hard to compare across vial sizes, so here is every Pure Vial pack reduced to a price per millilitre.

When Pure Vial is not the right answer

We would rather say so than take an order we cannot serve properly. Pure Vial is the wrong supplier if you need pharmaceutical-manufacturer quantities (drum or bulk-fill volumes for further manufacture), if you need product supplied for human or veterinary use, or if you need goods entered on the ARTG. We do not supply any of those. In those cases a licensed pharmaceutical wholesaler or manufacturer is the correct starting point, not us.

Intended use

Pure Vial products are supplied strictly for laboratory, analytical and industrial use. They are not a medicine or therapeutic good, are not entered on the ARTG, and are not for human or animal use. Buyers must be at least 18 and use the products for lawful research purposes only.
